It doesn't seem like all five coils would go out at the same time. Sometimes you can see if they are shorting out if you take off your coil cover, park the car in a dark place and run it. If there is a short causing it to miss, you may be able to see the arcing with the hood up while it is running. If the coils are "cracked and rotton", you will be able to see that when you pull the cover off.

It isn't likely that it is caused by the fuel, unless you loaded up with a really bad batch. Check your plugs; if the miss is coming from fouled plugs, you may be able to see it.

I would check the code to see if your oxygen sensor is up to snuff. Sometimes the check engine light is tripped by it and it can be sending a bad, or no signal to the computer which can cause it to run rough.

I have never had a Volvo automatic, but I have had a similar thing happen when there was a problem with the lockup converter.
