I recently installed a tach/clock assembly and all was working fine until yesterday. Tach now hangs at 1100 for a few miles when I start driving, then drops to zero. All other gauges, indicator lights, etc work correctly and I have no blown fuses. All connections on the back are good. Any ideas what may be the problem?

Was the tach new when you installed it or used?

It was used, but was working fine for the past several weeks, then last week I removed it again to install the hole plug (when you answered my question about the separate tabs), and again worked fine until yesterday. Odd....it is almost as if it is binding or something. I'll probably pull it again and take it apart to see if there are any loose solder joints or something like that.
