Smile ,y 1968 volvo p1800s............

This is my 1968 Volvo P1800S. It is nearly perfect.... it needs a replacement/rebuilt 2nd generation Smiths Tachometer. Anyone have a source for one of these?

How would you rate my car?

"0" is the worst/"10" is the best..........

I am curious what other opinions are as I am considering selling it.

I just had Halogen H4 headlights installed, along with a new ignition coil, new battery, new fuses, new voltage regulator, new distributor, new cd stereo(kept the original radio installed too), new NGk spark plugs and new wheel cylinders and hard brake lines on the rear.

I would love some feedback and if anyone hears of a source for the 2nd generation blue faced Smiths Tachometer; please let me know.

Many Many Thanks.....

Tough to tell without seeing in person, but it looks really nice. Maybe a 9 without seeing in person. Where are you located and how much do you think you'll ask?

I am located in Tacoma, WA. I recently put in a new voltage regulator, so now I am in the process of replacing all of the 42/43 year old wires that are now getting a more concentrated and amplified current than they had leaving the factory. So I am meeting with my mechanic today to discuss placing a complete new wiring harness in the car if needed.

If I were to sell it today, I would take 13,00.00 or in that area (given that I need the Tachometer rebuilt) .

If I go ahead and finish upgrading the wiring harness, chrome out some engine parts, have the original clock restored as well as the original tach rebuilt; I would be looking at the 17,00.00 OBO range. KBB for an original in excellent condition is around 16,750.00. However, my car is in almost perfect original condition, but has modern electrical system and upgrades.

Any thoughts?

I can answer any other questions. I am at the point of committing about 3 to 4 thousand more in the car to make it a perfectly upgraded, yet retaining the basics; or just selling it as I hardly drive it. I don't work, have no kids and my wife and I have two other cars. So it gets used on sunny days and stays covered on others.
