Default Brake Problem or not?

I just bought a 2004 S40 with 35,000 miles for my daughter. Great car, that little 4 cylinder turbo will move.
I have noticed that after the car sits for a couple of hours and I move the car it acts like it doesn't have power brakes anymore. You really have to push on the pedal hard to get any braking. After getting out of the driveway and going maybe 4 car links, everything is fine. I read in the owners manual that the car has to get to 4 mph and the ABS system does a self check. I don't think this is that. I suspect that the air is leaking out of the vaccum booster or something. I have seen some TBS that suggest that a hose and backflow valve should be replaced per the factory. Don't know if this was done on this car, but it worries me for my daughter to drive it.
2) What is the best way to get a extra key for me and my wife, not the big key fob, but just a regular key. I have been doing some reading and I know about the chip in the key, the programming, and the costs the dealer charges range greatly.
Thanks for the info

From what you have described it would appear that there is a vacum leak on the system . Suggest you check ALL the pipes ( rubber ) vacum pipes going to the servo unit behind the master brake cylinder and check for splits etc .
If all else fails then get the servo unit checked. It sould hold vacum for several minutes after the engine is stopped and as you push the brake pedal then it seems to get firmer as the vacum is used up.

2 KEYS try a local auto locksmith for a solution
