Question has the t-belt been replaced?

Hi,

How do I tell if the timing belt has been replaced?

I just bought a 2000 V70 XC AWD with 79,000 miles. The dealer said that they replaced the belt, but I want to see for myself.

Is there a way I can check it out so I can rest assured it got done?

Default Timing belt...

you have 25000 miles before it needs to be done according to the maintenance schedule. Not sure why anyone would change it that early unless it was part of the deal. I just changed mine in 2001 V70, it cost $158, just not that big of a hit for peace of mind. If your timing belt breaks, you're pretty well done with that car.
