Rob - welcome to volvoforum.com! Sorry to hear about your latch problem. Not aware of this being a common problem. Try these for replacements:

Thanks and keep us posted on the repair. It would be great if you would take some pictures and post up a step by step in case anyone else ever has this issue.

Default Pics to come

Ok so horray kind of. The Hood latch is complicated at all put together with rivets so you can't really buy new parts for it just the whole mechanism which I was told is gonna cost me somewhere in the neighboorhood of 175 bucks. But I found the problem have alot of frustration and work. So after trying to go in from under the car with no luck, I finally popped the grille off with minimal damage. I then proceded to unscrew the hood latch with a socket wrench. After some time I finally got the hood opened. It seems that the spring that holds the hood latched was stretched so when I would pull the cable it would just strech the spring more and not actualy trigger the mechanism. Well I plan on oiling the hood latch and buying a new spring and cable which will only cost me about 40 bucks instead of 175. Pictures will be up later tonight.

Hi I'm looking to exchange the front grille. How did you get it detached? I have a V50 and want to fit a S40 grille. Thanks
