Won't Reverse?

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and still consider myself new to Volvo in general. Last August, I bought a 2004 Volvo S60 and spent nearly $3 getting all the maintenance caught up on it. It is not yet my primary vehicle, but I obviously intend it to be. Every time I think about or try to sell my other vehicle, which is an Alero, something goes haywire with the Volvo. The car has been sitting for several days but today I started it up and was ready to back out of my driveway to which it would not back up. I pressed the gas, but nothing. It's never done that before. I thought I must be more tired than I thought, because something isn't right...

I put the car back in park, and afterwards, there was a loud 'boom' from the back of the car. I have no idea what it was. I looked at the back of the car, and fluid was dripping from the muffler (which I figure is normal) but also from the back just under the bumper which I've noticed but could also be normal.

Everything has been fine since. I just took it for a drive to the bank and all is fine. I'm just wondering if it's going to happen again, and what it might mean? No, the emergency break was not on
