I recently bought an 1800 ES that looked pretty on the web and at a competitive price -so I thought. I have noticed the car overheats in traffic (not in highway) but it has a couple of symptoms of a damaged head cylinder or head gasket (radiator overflow tank bubbles after acceleration and when I changed the oil I noticed a greenish hue trace of antifreeze). I'm not a mechanic but I have done a similar operation many years back with the help of a friend in an 80's Buick Skylark car and it seems like it would be fairly uncomplicated for the Volvo B20. Does anyone have an idea of how much it would cost to have this done by a mechanic? Are there any particular aspects I should keep in mind if I decide to do it myself? BTW, I live in Houston, TX in case you know of a Volvo specialist.
