1997 960 Engine just quit in driveway

Hi:

I just bought a 1997 960. I test drove it and went all over it and it's maintenance records. Nothing looked out of sorts. Car has 145k on it. Just had timing belt and tensioner replaced. I just started it in the driveway and , at idle, the ABS light and SRS light were blinking. The motor then shut down completely. The engine instrument lights illuminate at the bottom of the dash when I turn the key, but no spark, turning of starter, etc. Does anyone have a clue as to what I should do next? I have a mechanic and can have it towed in, but I cannot understand what happened. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
