i live in canada and just purchased a s80 2006 for $18,000 with 83,000kms.there is extended warranty being offered,3years 60,000kms $200.00 deductable for $4119.00.do i need this or is this vehicle reliable htat i dont need it.the car drives really good and i like it but i would like to know potntial pitfalls as this is my first volvo.:rolleyes:

That's $1400./year. It's a bit like a lottery - you may win, you may loose.

Most parts are not fixable - they are replaced as assemblys. There's lot's of electronics in a modern car. Make sure the policy is all-inclusive. Is it Volvo or aftermarket policy. If it's aftermarket, google them for potential problems of non-coverage.

What do you want to pay for piece of mind motoring....

i bought the car at a gm dealership and this was there warranty. i went to the volvo dealership and they would give me a warranty same 3 yr,60,000 kms for $3500.00.the gm was for $4119.00. thanks for your reply
