I have a 2000 c70 convertible. My wife calls me from the airport that the car will not start and she hears a clanking/grinding noise when she attepmts to start.
I replaced the starter and battery-the car finally turned over but runs very rough (noise from what sounds like the lifters) and a great deal of white smoke and condensation comes out of the tail pipe. I did notice the violent level did drop. However, there does not appear to be any sign of coolent in the oil or on the oil cap. I think it sounds like a damaged head gasket but the noise is concerning.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem is and areas I should look at and possibly fix.
Thanks
