Hi,
The front end of my car shakes severely. It has been getting worse lately.
I was quoted about $1400.00 to fix both front axles. The parts on the quote were $560.00 per side roughly and labour $300.00. Then I called O'rielly's auto parts and I think I found the front two axles for $89.00 per side.
It does not seem right. www.vlvworld.com has what is called an axel shaft boot kit for $137.00 each for the Turbo automatic trany.

Milton, welcome to the forum! Was this a quote from a dealer? Did they provide part numbers for this?

It was a quote from a volvo repair shop and no they did not give me part numbers. But, I did get a second quote today and will get the guy to look at my car tomorrow. If its the same issue as the first shop thinks it is, this guy is going to charge me $370.00 for install and parts for a right axle replacement! So, I'm probably going to allow him to do the work.
What do you suggest?

I think you are wise to get several opinions from different repair shops. If you can get it done for $370 not a bad price to not have to deal with it. If you haven't done it before you could end up spending more time than you think repairing it.

Hey,
Well I got the passenger side done, took the guy about 40 minutes. It rides so much better! Going to have him do the other side as I can afford it. The parts were $230.00 per and labour was $140.00 per side.
But hey, first quote was almost $1400 for both driver and passenger side.
I'm so glad that I got a second opinion!
