My daughter has a 2002 V40 which has recently started oozing a thick brownish/yellow fluid from the reservoir. She has completely drained the system and flushed the radiator and engine block. Several days later it started doing it again. Checked oil and transmission fluids with no evidence of water. Anyone have any ideas? Good Volvo mechanic in Arlington, Virginia area? Thanks.

Did you do the flush or a dealer? The Volvo anti freeze I believe is brown. Is the coolant reservoir clean or does it still contain deposits? You may have corrosion in the radiator/water pump/heater core.

the factory coolant is kinda yellow, does it only do this after driving for a long time or does it happen every time the engine gets up to temp. is there any oil consumption?

That sounds ok. There shouldn't be any oil in it or you have another issue that you don't want. Is the tank clean?
