240 se wagon delay in starting

Hey swedish nuts, I am totally new to the Volvo's. Love the car. So I have a question. Non-turbo, 4spd auto wagon has about a 1-2 sec delay before the starter engages. Is that a Volvo thing, or a MY Volvo thing. If its the later, what might be causing such a issue.
