Hi All,

I am new here, so bear with me. I have a '95 850, I drove it to my girlfriend's house and it worked fine. Just like it always has been working. No battery light or anything. I park it for maybe 20 mins. I come back out and the car is stone dead. No lights, no sounds, NOTHING. I jumped it and it went right off, I then drove the 15 mins home. On the way the lights were flickering on and off. I figure it's an alternator problem, but before I go through the work of taking it off and getting it tested/replaced are there any other ideas people might have. A fellow volvo owner said something about a relay switch sticking on the air pump. Any ideas please let me know.

I do not think it is your battery or alternator. I think it may be a bad cable connection. Remove and clean your battery cables first, then make sure your ground cable is making a good connection to the car. You may have a short somewhere but this would be the first thing I would do. It costs nothing. If you have the green crude on the cables, scrape them clean and then put baking soda with a little water to finish cleaning all green off.
