OK. I'm a skill level 1, so don't laugh if I sound dumb. Our mechanic identified our compressor as the problem with our A/C. My Dad has a brand-new Volvo a/c compressor he said I could have, but he's not sure if it's the right part for our model and year (1994 850 wagon). So my question is, can I slap any Volvo compressor on and expect it to work, or do I need a specific part? And what specific part number would that be? Also, I've looked all over this compressor for a part number and can't find it. Suggestions?

Welcome to the forum soccermom! All volvo compressor's will not be interchangeable. There should be a part number somewhere, but if you can't find one you may try taking it by your local Volvo dealer service department. They could probably take a look and tell you if it would work.
