I am new to this forum, and to Volvos. We got our 2002 V70 in March and have been trouble-free until the driver's seat belt retractor went limp. It acts like a bad spring and I have ordered a replacement. I wonder:

Is this common at seven years and 115,000 miles?
Is there an extended manufacturer's warranty on safety equipment?
Is there a way to replace just the broken spring?
How should I safely dispose of the old unit?

I've heard of similar seat belt issues. Is your quick release seat back working properly? I thought that these units could be taken apart pretty easily. I've never done it, so I'll let other more seasoned members respond on that.
