Air pump hose disconnected at air box

In swapping my air pump, I realized that I didn't order the pump mounts, so my thought is that instead of putting it all back together, I'll leave all the parts out of the car. With the hose disconnected from the airbox, I thoguht I'd cover the hole with a clean, unused rag and use a ziptie to keep it in place. My thought is that it shouldn't cause a problem because the ziptie should be strong enough to prevent the cloth from getting sucked into the engine - path of least resistance is from the air filter, right?

Thoughts?

I'd not be comfortable with just a zip tie. Why not take the belt off the airpump until you get what you need.

There is no belt on the air pump. Since I didn't order the rubber mounting bolts with the new pump (and didn't know about them), when I removed the old pump, two of the bolts fell apart and I can't put the old pump back in place. I figured that it would be easier to cover the hole on the airbox instead of covering the open-end of the hose coming off of it.

I did 90 miles of highway driving and the ziptie held perfectly. Luckily I don't have to drive any more this week, so I shold be able to get the parts and install everything this weekend.
