I have wired two Kicker Comp 12 In. Sub-woofers into the floor of the trunk of my 98 v70 wagon. I was just wondering if it is necessary to run the power lines all the way from the battery to the amp or if i can just mount a battery in the trunk and ground it to the metal areas of the frame. I'm not sure if the amp would work well or just fry or if the battery would even last long enough without the assistance of the alternator.

I would run the power lines. That is a simpler configuration than getting into charging two batteries.
