I had a new alternator installed today. The sound system displays "CODE". The code wasn't on my manual and there is no card with the "CODE". Called Volvo customer service. They gave me a code, but it errorred out 3 times and system is lcked. I have waited the proscribed two hours with the key in the i position and the system power on. If this doesn't work, does anyone have a suggestion? I will not go to a dealer.

Did you get this worked out? I think if it doesn't work you may end up dealer bound!

Make sure you got a code for the serial number on the radio, not from the car's serial number. If the radio has been previously changed, Volvo would only have the information on the original radio.

Spot on once again. I called the parts manager at the Charleston Volvo and he had me pull the radio and give him the serial number from the unit. It had been changed out and he gave me the code. Had to wait a couple of hours for the system to clear and prompt "CODE". All worked well. I also wrote the code number on the unit itself. Thanks for the help. I will update my posts once problems are cleared so your time is not squandered. Thanks again.
