I have a 1972 p1800ES that I just put a Pertronix ignitor into. It runs great, but in doing so I lost my tachometer function. I understand that these vintage Smiths tachs are current based not voltage based - but other than moving wires around, is there a known procedure for rewiring my coil that regenerates my tach function?

Thanks,

What does the manufacturer say about the tach?

Contract PerTronix Product Support

The Volvo tach is an impulse tach and is very common. They should have a means of connecting this since there's lots of older domestic and foreign cars using this type of instrument.
