ETS warning light

my 1999 v70 has an ETS light that comes on for no ryhme or reason. when it does come on the car starts idoling rough. If I shut the car off and turn it right back on the light goes off and the engine runs fine. I have no idea what The ETS light means or where to start looking for a bad sensor. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.
