I have a 87 740 that has an idle that fluctuates between about 900 and 600 RPM. I've read that it can be a dirty throttle plate, bad MAF sensor, bad IAC, and vacuum leaks. Any other ideas? How would I check the MAF and IAC? Thanks.

To check the IAC, just tap it with a screwdriver handle or the like with the motor running. If there is a problem with the IAC, this will cause fluctuation in the idle.
