Hello Everyone! My name is Roger and I live in Eagle River, Alaska. In addition to a 4 wheel drive Ford F-350 Diesel pickup I also own a very nice 1993 240 Volvo. It's number 711 out of 1,600 special edition 240's that were made. Basically, it's a regular 240 with wood trim across the dash, all the power options, a numbered placard on the panel, and an extra piece of trim on the rear of the trunk that says "Classic." The car had one Florida owner before I purchased it through Ebay just a few months ago. Since shipping the car to Alaska I have been busy correcting several small issues that are to be expected on a car of this age. With 130,000 miles on the odometer my Volvo is a reasonably low mileage specimen. I have owned sevarla other 240's, one a 1979 model and the other a 1983. My first Volvo, purchased some twenty five years ago was a 1972 model 142S.
I enjoy the simplicity, comfort, safety, and large trunks of the 240's. Recent improvements made to my current car include a much improved CD player along with four new speakers and an IPOD adapter, a remote starter to get the heat going before I get into the car, and 4 studded Hakepelitta snow tires that really do a great job of keeping things moving and stopping on the icy winter roads here in Alaska. Planned future improvements include suspension, brake, and exhaust upgrades which will all be purchased from IPD in Portland, OR. The people at IPD have been great to deal with over the years and offer many great Volvo replacement parts and modifications at prices well below those being charged by the dealer.
I look forward to hearing more about the Volvos the rest of you enjoy and drive.
Take Care, Roger
