I had the hatch open and for some reason stuck my finger in the grove where the lock moves up and down and hooks around the bar to keep it locked. well don't ask me why but i pushed the bar up which is what its in while its in the closed position and then while in this position i tried to close the hatch. Of course it just slammed and didn't close. So then i had to hold the hatch handle open while i stuck my finger back into the grove to put it back into the correct position. It was able to close then and locked and unlocked fine. So i thought it was fine till i walked out to my car hours later during the night and saw that the back hatch light was on. When i turn on the car the trunk open indicator light is on and the back light wont shut off unless i switch it in the always off position. So basically the car thinks the hatch is open when its not. It didn't do this until i messed with the switch which i now regret. Any ideas on how I can fix this? would a new tailgait latch actuator fix this? Thank you in advance.

Yeah when i drive around the trunk open indicator light is on but the tailgait still has full function, like locking and unlocking and so. The rear hatch light also wont go off by itself and the front red light that blinks on the dash when everything is locked is not blinking anymore.
Capgat, I suspect your latch/lock adjustment is out of whack. When you slammed it and it was closed, it probably jarred the latch and now it thinks the gate is open when it's closed. You need to tighten the screws for the latch and verify proper adjustment. If that doesn't fix it, you may have damaged it and ruined it altogether. The latch probably scooted in so far that the depth of the plunger tells the latch that the tailgate is open, try adjustin the latch out a little, making sure it's tight, and recheck. Lemme know.
