hallo from Canvey Island ESSEX {UK} I"m new to the forum.I drive a Volvo 940 estate 1996 i"ve owned for about 5-6 years. I"ve owned Volvos for 30 years always estates. My 940 is in V.G condition and runs like a dream. The problem i have is rainwater getting in the r/h drivers footwell, windscreen has been removed & checked 3 times, sunshine roof serviced &checked, fitted new body seal on drivers side door.Does anyone know or heard of any problems with the air intake between bonnet & screen, any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Have you sunroof?
If you have check the draining from there that it don't leak.
But it is common in 7 and 9 series that you got water on the floor r/h drivers footwell.
except from the sunroof it can be 2 other tings.
you have a air intake to your left foot and the sealing can be leaking. replace it and take out the carpet for drying. if you don't do that it can damage the floor.
There is one other ting. is you remove the plastic cover that is hiding the steering etc etc. over the gas pedal there is a valve that is open/close if you have any heat from the 'air intake' it can be hard to get to it and see. but if you just take your hand and locking for water and frezzing antiwater (don't know the right word in english) it taste gross.
It there is any leak it is not a high cost to replace it like 10-15 dollars maybe? can be a right pain in the ass to get the wire in place but you will figure it out. also take out the carpet and let it dry.
if you don't do it can damage the floor so it will roast.

Thank you for your reply, at the moment i have it covered up as the weather here is pretty atrocious.Ihave sorted the sunshine roof, but the air vent by the pedal sounds a good possibility. It is definitely coming from outside as the cooling system never needs topping up. thanks again and when the weather improves i will check it out, and if and when i do cure it i will come back with my findings. Thank you

hi,finally cured my water leak in r/h footwell,water was entering from the drain in the inner wing. after removing the panel between the door and the pedals then unscrewing the jetronic unit, behind this there was a 3-4 inch square hole which i sealed up.apparently it was an air vent on the 740 series which was discontinued on the 940. i appreciate any replies i had on this problem,thank you.
