I have a V40 2000 and my key is stuck in the ignition. Any ideas on how to release it? The shifter seems to work fine. I heard it might be a solenoid. Is this something i can replace myself.

thanks,

Jim

My key is also stuck in 1998 XC70

The car was just ret'd to me by an indie garage that replaced the radiator and heater core. The key was in the ignition when I picked it up, so I didn't know there was a problem until I was home on a Friday evening. The garage reopens on Monday. The shiftlock override button seems *not* to be stuck, though it's a little slow to move. The button on the forward side of the shifter moves freely. The car seems to be solidly in park. My recollection (perhaps mistaken) is that the key turned a tad further counterclockwise before I brought it to the garage than it does now. Any ideas for a fix?
