Hello fellow Volvo owners.

Like i said in my introduction post, i recently bought a S40 1.8 kinetic.
I am more than pleased with the car. It's a fantastic ride.

Alas, i can't say the same about the dealer who really %^&$^& me over.

To make a long story short, i ordered the car with mp3 playback support (at the time i didn't know about "performance", "high performance" and "premium" sound systems). All i wanted was to listen to my mp3 cds while in the car.

Anyway the car arrived and (there lies my mistake) I didn't check the console for the mp3 logo. A few days later i'm in my brand new S40 trying to figure out why the cd cannot read my mp3 disks :(

So as you might have figured out, i'm stuck with this car. I have asked around here in Greece and all i get is "cannot be done. High Performance sound system required".

You guys are my last hope. Is it really so hard to replace the damn cd i got now with the one from the high performance system?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a 'source' button which toggles between am, fm, minidisc, and aux. when you plug an mp3 into the aux outlet, you must then switch the source to aux also. you may have to find the manual to make sure if this is anything like what you're trying to do.

Well, there is a button like that. And there is also an AUX jack in the CD storage underneath the armrest.

However, that is not what i want. I want to be able to insert my mp3 disc into the CD and play mp3s.
