Hi everyone in Volvoland, hows it hanging?? I am looking at Volvo wagons , initially v40's , now v70's, as the back seats are bigger and the v70 wagons just a skosh more room I find high mileage (189k)immaculate examples priced at high retail, lower mileage(98k) rougher appearing examples priced around trade in hi value, and low mileage garaged creampuffs with 25k and less for about what they went for new!!
and finally found one 2004 with just 24k miles! for low rough trade in and its flawless , drives solid same colors , no overspray, 100% working all areas!!! dream find!!! THEN Salvage title! BOING! I get em down to less than NADAS lowest , roughest car , by $500, Subject to Volvo dealer
pre purchase inspection, I know the driver side rear door was replaced , but seems fine! magnet stuck all over etc, all power windows etc operative, door closes and fits perfect, no wind noise or water leaking etc, said small fenfer beder into door only and was totoalled and they bought it back and had new door installed , 3 years ago, still 24 k miles, sounds like a sweet watch motor, oil really clean etc, does a slavage title doom this find?? or if dealer sees nothing bad am i ok ??

With the cost of repairs today, it takes very little damage to write off a car. Insurance companies look at book value (not actual condition before damage) and repair cost (which can be boosted up by a shop that wants to fix everything, at full retail price) and have a formula for when the repair cost is too high.

If it all checks out fine, it sounds lie a great car.
