I have a 1996 Volvo 960 wagon (6 cylinder 2.9L engine). There is a small oil leak on the back of the engine, near the top, on the passanger's side. It is difficult to see back there, but it appears to be comming from a "plate" that is held to the engine by a couple of screws. I am calling it a "plate" because I don't know what it is. It's about 3 inches in diameter and I am guessing that it covers the end of the camshaft. Before I remove this "plate" to fix the oil leak, I would like to know what it is. I don't want to slide it out and find out it's the bearing holding one end of the camshaft and I can't slide it back in.
Any info you can provide would be appreciated.
