ok its got me completley stumped!

i just brought a 1998 s80 t6 and it keeps running out of coolant.

I fixed the leek in the heater core thinking that was the problem, but it wasent and now it just keeps pushing all the water into the overflow bottle then out the over flow hose onto the road? i have no idea why?

the temp isnt going over half way so its not overheating, but it keeps saying check coolant and when i do its empty?

any help would be awsome :)

cheers

Welcome to the forum! First check the oil dipstick. See if it looks like pure oil. If it looks milky you could have a leak which is putting coolant in the oil. From what you have described I doubt this is the issue. But check to make sure you eliminate this. The other common thing could be a bad thermostat. Let us know what you find and good luck!

can anyone tell me where this is spose to go? as they aid conecting it back up should fix the problem

Do you know if the thermostat is operating properly? If you take the cap off with a cold engine, start the car you should see the antifreeze not moving, then when the car warms up the thermostat will open up and you will see the antifreeze moving.

the top hose from the overflow bottle goes to a small port on the Drivers side top side of the radiator. if it has a bolt in it someone has messed with the car. the radiator needs to be dropped down from under the car and re-attach the hose to this port. its a return line to the bottle.

The normal order to ck. is; leaks, elect. fan, coolant sensor, water flow(cks. pump,t-stat ) leaks can cause head warpage. High press. or water vapor at the exhaust(after warmup) can indicate a warped cyl. head....hope this is useful to you...
