I have a 245 volvo 83 model with overdrive and when a put the reverse gear do not move forward everything is ok on reverse stays dead what can be de problem the reverse mecanism is ok.maybe de fault is the overdrive.

If it has a 4 speed with overdrive, the problem could be in the overdrive clutch. That is something that a professional will need to fix.

Sounds like the reverse inhibitor is bad. That thing you pull up on when you put it in reverse. very common to break. You will need to pull the boot up and check it out
