My 1998 S70 has 120k miles on the orginal clutch. How many miles can I expect to get out of original clutch? I know i depends on how you drive, I have always been gentle. The engine is perfect and the interior/exterior is great because always garaged. I bought a new Bullitt Mustang and want to keep S70 for work because I work in a place with a busy lot. Also, my teenage son will be driving soon and he wants mom's hand-me-down. Anyone here have this car? Non turbo

Let the kid learn how to drive a stick, THEN change the clutch.

Two ways to casually assess the state of the clutch;

How far from the floor does the clutch pedal start to grab? The higher off the floor, the more wear. (meant more for a hydraulic clutch - a cable operated clutch does have some adjustment)

Driving at low speed in top gear, floor the gas and see that the cluch doesn't slip. If it sounds like an automatic with the engine speed rising quicker than the speed of the car, the clutch is slipping and won't last long.
