Hello VF Family,
I have a 2005 Volvo XC90 (T5) with 53,000 miles. My wife and I use it on weekends and occasional long distance trips. For the most part, all is well.
Last Sunday, the 'Time for Regularly Scheduled Maintenance' indicator appeared. Whenever this happens, my wife gets worried. In this particular case, I do not believe there is any reason to worry. In February, we purschased tires from a non-Volvo dealer but we had them perform the regular maintenance items, also. When we take the vehicle to Volvo, I think they should just reset the indicator vs. repeating the service.
Anyway, I am telling my wife that we should get the transmission flush since we have not had that service performed on the vehicle. She is against getting it because we know a few people who got transmission flushes around or above 80,000 miles. Of course, the transmissions failed shortly afterwards. She believes this is going to happen to our vehicle.
Any thoughts?
- Is it safe to flush at our mileage on a Volvo that has not been flushed?
- How often do you flush?
- How often do you recommend flushing?
- Do you know of anyone experiencing transmission problems after the flush?
I will show the responses to my wife. Thanks for your feedback!
