Hello everyone, I hope you all had a Happy and Safe Holiday. Well I have a 1996 850 GLT Wagon, and for some reason even when the car is fully warmed up and the temperature is on high, it only blows warm not hot. I thought maybe it could be the thermostat, so I replaced it, and no difference! I really don't know what to check next, it has antifreeze. Well if anyone can give me some suggestions on what it may be, I would really appreciate it. Thank you and have a great New Year, Nelson.

Thanks for visiting the forum. There are a few things you can check. First, double check to make sure the the cooling system is filled with the proper amount of anti-freeze. There could be a fault with the thermostat. But since you have replaced it make sure the "air mix" knob is in the correct position. If it is set incorrectly, that will cause cold air to flow from the center vents. Make sure you set on recirculate vs. fresh air intake. Go back to the lever on the heating mechanism, see if it is connected properly. Worst case could be that you may need a head gasket, but that would show water loss or overheating. There could be a problem with the heater valve, thermostat or the blend door in the heater box.

Hey Sulley, yes I did resolve it this morning, it turns out that the overflow container and the hose below it where clogged with what looked like mud. I removed both pieces and wash them like new and replaced them, and it seems to be working great! Thank you for your response, I really appreciate your time brother, Nelson.

Nelson, sounds like it was an inexpensive fix which is great. Thanks for the update, it's always good to have in the event someone else runs into it.

Did you change out the antifreeze? Depending on the condition of the overflow tank you may consider flushing or changing it out if it has sludge in the bottom of it.
