Having owned Volvos, BMWs, VWs, (and others), I'm finding Volvo cheaper to fix/maintain than the German brands. Does anyone else have a similar experience?

I just got rid of my wife's 530i BMW. What a garbage car to maintain. Everything is made of the cheapest plastic in creation that crumbles on contact. That being said I've owned Volvo's since I was 18. I'm 67 now I've worked on them forever and find them relatively easy to repair and no more costly to repair than any other car.
