I just noticed this today for the first time: when I am driving very slow, or in park, and turn the steering wheel - I hear a stuttering complaining noise from (what seems to be) the big springs in the wheel wells up front. Like a heavy smoker hacking and couching. I can feel it, with my hand on the spring. There's something going on there...

But - No noises at all when driving down the road.

What on earth could cause such a strange noise?
