TO whom it may concern;

I am interested in to begin towing an RV with my 2006 XC90 V8. I have a family of 5 and many of the towable RVs that I have looked at are over 7000 pounds. I was just wondering if my XC90 could be modifed for larger payloads?

How large is the RV and what is the weight of the RV? Have you already compared the XC90's towing capabilities with the weight of the RV? You can modify the suspension, but I would be concerned about the transmission, brakes, and engine's ability to handle the loads. Also, not sure where you are, but someplace flat like Florida or Arizona you're not going to be as pressed for the power as you would in a mountain/hill geography.

sulley007,

Like the Gulf Stream Conquest 295BHS...It has a dry weight of 6600 pounds and a hitch weight of 720 pounds...I was just asking if it is even fesible to modify the xc90 to pull such a load...and not have to buy a new truck...

THXs for the response,

I wouldn't recommend it. In addition to damaging your Volvo engine, transmission, drivetrain, and brakes you run a safety risk of not being able to stop or maneuver such a load. And the reality is the Gulf Stream will not be dry either when towing. You will likely have a load inside of it as well.
