HI, I have an 06 XC90 that I thought needed rear brake pads because when I put the Emergency brakes on it barely holds the car anymore. When I checked for pads on the internet I noticed they had sepertate E brake shoes for sale. Does this car use seperate brake shoes for the E. Brake other than the rear brake pads?

That's how the ebrake works with the rear disc. There are small 'drum like' brake pads inside the rotor. When you pull the brake on it engages these pads inside the rotor like a brake shoe.

are the e brakes easy to change yourself. Is there any way to adjust the e. brake I find that I have to push the pedal all the way to the ground and the brakes still feel like it is loose. The car has 24,000 miles on it would the e brakes be worn out that soon? Thank you for the last reply.
