Hi guys, I'm a long time reader, first time poster. I have a 940 Turbo wagon Automatic, 1996. I got it cheaper due to the car having an erratic idle. I did some research before buying, my first visit to the Volvoforum, and learned that this could be caused by a fault with the IAC valve. Upon inspecting the car i found that the hose going into the valve had a big split in it. Upon sealing to hole with my finger the car started to idle properly.

However we now have a new problem. I have read through the forum quite a bit and have come to the conclusion that I may have a faulty in-tank fuel pump. My problems are: The car will stall if the fuel light is on. If the car is low on gas (less than 1/4 tank) it may stall turning right and it might not start if facing downhill. There is also a hesitation sometimes when going from brake to accelerate too quickly.

Any thoughts? ps I am a mechanic novice. please speak in simple terminology!
